The detailing on the hut is fantastic and the way that it opens (with a split window at the top) is a cool trick. The hut is situated next to a small alpine-like mountain with a waterfall and stream. The mountain has a hollow inside with a red gem hanging down from the inside. There is a single mini-figure (with a helmet) along with an ATV, brick-built eagle, and a small number of accessories (pick-axe, coffee mug).

The second and third models are slight variations. The second places a small log cabin (with bed and stove) at the top of a mountain and features a bridge over a waterfall and stream. This one is brilliant with a lot of wonderful detail to the stream and the tree. There is a little brick-built kayak which is okay, but not as good as the kayak from set #5766 (Log Cabin) which this set effectively replaces. The last model is again a mountain hut but with the rockwork built into the hut. This small hut is hinged and includes a fireplace stove and a table.

I am a big fan of the Creator sets. They use, primarily, general use bricks and they have directions for different models. This encourages rebuilding and it provides a great source of varied bricks, much better than the basic brick boxes that have too many large bricks (e.g. 2 x 4s). The Creator designs get better each year with more detail and more innovative building techniques. This set has nice red and brown sloped pieces, different grays, and lots of brown. I was disappointed to see the use of what Lego fans call LURPs (large ugly rock pieces) in the construction of the mountain. I would have preferred an entirely brick-built design. But LURPs can be handy.

3. I am ready to throw the roof assembly into traffic! It constantly crumbleeddas I tied to put it together. Once I got it together, sans the missing piece which was not structural, getting it onto the vehicle caused it to crumble again. This then caused half of the vehicle sides to collapse.

4. The colors are very similar and it's quite difficult to figure out what many of the pieces are by the instructions.

5. The instructions are some of the worst I've seen by Lego. The placement isn't always easily determined by pics. Even the arrows require a little studying.

6. Many of the pieces did not fit together well. It took SMS force, which would make assemblies fall apart. The roof wasn't the only part, the bumper and some other sections did this, too.

That being said, I do love the details and look of it. I just wish the quality was better for a $120 set.

This set can be used to build the Bike Shop and Cafe, but also an Auto Repair and a Florist. With over 1000 pieces, it's also easy to throw the instructions aside and build something cool from scratch.

There are lots of "special" pieces in this set, it's much more than just basic bricks. Hinged pieces allow the buildings to open and close so you can see inside. This is a pretty simple build that doesn't take that long to complete. Even better, it's a fun play set for both boys and girls (and Moms and Dads). It's on a smaller scale than the largest Lego buildings, but these can still be used to fill out your own personal Lego City!

   

This set is designated for ages 9-14, but littler kids still enjoy playing with it if they get some help with assembly. I put this set together for a 5-year-old boy and girl and they really went crazy over it. We built the two alternate models using bricks from my existing collection and then set up all four buildings like a small city. Great set!
